Allies at Summit had to dangle keys to keep POSOTUS from throwing a tantrum

The 36th NATO Summit in Ankara on July 7–8, 2026 highlighted growing tensions between POSOTUS and America’s traditional allies, as Canada and European leaders increasingly focused on managing his behavior and tempering his tantrums while simultaneously advancing defense plans that could reduce their reliance on the United States.

Throughout the two-day summit, allied leaders worked to keep Trump engaged despite his repeated attacks on NATO partners and renewed overtures toward Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Behind the scenes, the Pentagon confirmed it is conducting a six-month review of U.S. troop levels in Europe, while a coalition of European NATO members and Canada began developing a North Atlantic and Arctic naval mission that would operate without American participation.

Cheeto Benito reserved his warmest praise for Erdoğan, slobbering about their “chemistry”, discussing the possibility of easing U.S. sanctions on Turkey, and dangling promises of F-35 fighter jets. He outright said Erdoğan was the primary reason he attended the summit.

His treatment of NATO allies was markedly different.

Before the summit opened, Mango Unchained posted a photo of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with the caption “RESTRAINING ORDER NEEDED.” He called Spain a “terrible partner in NATO,” threatened trade consequences, and again suggested that the United States should take control of Greenland from Denmark.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen publicly stated that Denmark would defend every inch of its territory and that Greenland was not for sale. She delivered the remarks right to POSOTUS’s orange stained face before returning to summit meetings.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte spent much of the summit publicly praising POSOTUS’s role in increasing defense spending among allies, encouraging him to claim credit for the alliance’s progress. European observers have increasingly characterized Rutte’s approach as an effort to keep Baron Von Shitzinpants engaged and prevent further disruption to summit proceedings.

The summit underscored broader concerns within Europe about the future of transatlantic security. As uncertainty over American commitments continues, several allies have accelerated discussions about strengthening independent defense capabilities, including new military initiatives that do not depend on U.S. participation.

French President Emmanuel Macron also drew attention throughout the summit by wearing aviator sunglasses during official events, including indoor meetings, the leaders’ group photograph, and a morning run through Ankara. While the Élysée Palace attributed the choice to an eye condition, the distinctive appearance became a frequent topic of discussion online.

The contrasting images became one of the summit’s defining visual narratives: Macron projecting confidence and composure while POSOTUS, after spending much of the gathering criticizing allies, whined to reporters as European leaders quietly pursued plans intended to strengthen their security regardless of Washington’s future role.
