Why This Is Important
Check sites like https://isthisacoup.com/ to see information about how far along the efforts of the Trump regime to form a dictatorship have come.
It can lag a few days behind the latest news, so it remains important to stay informed. Visit our Facebook or Bluesky pages for news summaries.

Sites like Project 2025 Observer are good for keeping track of how close the 2025 masterminds are to converting the United States of America into something more closely resembling the Republic of Gilead.
Where to Start
Think about your own skills and interests, and find a role. What are you good at? Organizing? Driving? Protesting? Calling? Writing? Cooking? Pick something and put it to work. Every act matters:
- Bake and sell cookies and donate the money to a local resistance group.
- Show up at one protest every week, to swell the numbers.
- Send postcards to your Representative or Senator.
- Join schoolboards
- Join community groups
- Help local campaigns
- Help register one new voter.
- Call out lies.
- Share facts on your social media.
- Say no when silence would be easier.
- Organize, create, speak up.
You don’t have to do it all. But do something.
Sometimes it’s as simple as using whatever privilege you have to stand up for others. Speak out for them without talking over them.
Be Heard By Those In Power
One of the simplest things you can do to #resist is to contact your representative at the local, state, or even federal level and tell them what you think about a proposed or enacted policy, executive order, or action.
From time to time we post calls to action on our Facebook or Bluesky accounts with templates of things to say – or not say – in these communications.
Call and tell them what you think!
- 202-224-3121 US Capitol switchboard
- 202-546-4400 Heritage Foundation (architects of Project 2025)
- 202-863-8500 RNC
- 202-456-1414 Whitehouse switchboard
- 561-832-2600 Mar-A-Lago
Still unsure what to say? Head over to 5Calls.org. They have pre-made guides for various topics to help you find the best way to get your message across.
DAILY RESISTANCE
We’ve created a tool so you can fax your Representative, Senator, or Governor daily.
- No fax machine required
- It’s free
Not only do you get to express your displeasure with the rising authoritarianism in Washington, but those on the other end will have to dig through hundreds or even thousands of faxes like yours to find the faxes they were actually expecting.
Make good trouble.
ResistBot
ResistBot is a chatbot that turns your texts into faxes, postal mail, or emails to your representatives in minutes. Visit the site, or send the word resist on Apple Messages, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, or by text to 50409 and answer the questions texted back. In minutes, you’ll have contacted Congress or your other elected officials.
Be Corporeal – Go To Events
You can find events posted on our Facebook page, or bluesky, or by other resistance groups and influencers around the web.
Check sites like 50501 and Indivisible. They publish many of the upcoming protests (See our notes below on protecting yourself when protesting).
Attend Town Halls! Republicans have been told to stop facing their constituents.

Tell Republicans the obvious. Their power and jobs are obsolete with a dictator or oligarchy.
Protest Sign Tips
Tech Hygiene
Follow online best practice tips
- Remember that even if you browse in incognito mode, your computer saves resolved DNS cache of the websites you visit and can be viewed with ipconfig/displaydns
- For windows: Open CMD and clear the cache with ipconfig /flushdns
-
For all other devices, read here.
Use end-t0-end encrypted apps
- Signal
- Element / Matrix
- Session (no phone # required)
Hide metadata
- Run a trusted, paid VPN or TOR
Backup off-site
- Encrypt and synch to thumb drive kept with a trusted friend
Separate Devices
- power off (not just sleep) when meeting in person
- keep a “clean” phone for high-risk communication
- ideally, only turn on your ‘clean’ phone in crowded areas (shopping malls, etc). Never at home.
Lock Screen Discipline
- Auto wipe after 10 fails
- 8 digit PIN > better than biometrics (touch / face ID)
Update & Audit
- Delete unused apps
- Disable location services
- Restart often (weekly or more)
- Disable cloud backups for sensitive data and chat
- Install security patches weekly or when prompted
For Organizers
If you are organizing a protest and are concerned you are under active surveillance, do not contact other members of your team from home or from your regular phone. Public wifi hotspots can help keep you anonymous. Consider using the Tails operating system and Tor Browser. Start your Tails session immediately before contacting them, and close it immediately afterward.
Protest Precautions
When protesting in public
- Wear highly visible clothing
- Avoid physical confrontation and violence
- Watch for traffic
- Consider taking steps to mitigate facial recognition software.
- Travel light – leave valuables at home
- Carry only ID, cash, printed lawyer number
- Don’t bring unlocked phones, even if ‘off’
If you must bring a phone
- Enable passcode only unlock
- Disable biometrics
- Put the phone in airplane mode or in a faraday pouch
If tear gassed
- only use water to flush out your eyes or the eyes of others. Although milk is often used to mitigate capsacin when eating, your eyes and your mouth are different things.
- remove outer clothing before enterinhg indoor spaces
What to Wear
- A hat, plain goggles
- A mask if local laws allow it. Some don’t.
- Nondescript, comfortable layers
Use the Buddy System
- Set meet-up points and times if you get separated
- Follow lawful orders to disburse
- Move as a group to a pre-planned rally point
